For over 12 years the Sea Dog Divers & The Lifenet team have been traveling around the world producing underwater documentary travel videos. Now for the first time, we take you behind the scenes to learn their secrets of underwater video, directly from the production team. Join us this December 4-12 on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, known as "Diver's Paradise", for the ultimate hands-on underwater video course. Join us for this return to one of our all-time favorite resort and host to the 2010 Video Workshop, "Captain Don's Habitat" in the wonderful Dutch Antilles.
About the course:
The one week, hands-on course will cover concepts in planning, gear selection, storyboarding, composition, lighting, shooting for editing, and digital editing. We will take you through the entire production of an underwater documentary travel video. Students will learn the essential shots to get and how to get them. Since this is a hands-on course, each participant can also tailor the course to focus on what skills are important to them.
The course is broken into three different daily sessions - a lecture session, a shooting session and an editing/review session. The lecture involves 1-2 hours per day of classroom instruction followed by a shooting assignment and then later, an editing/review assignment. Each day, the class reviews editing assignments for group feedback. At the end of the week, there will be a "film fest" where all the students will show off their best video. The schedule is busy, but integrated into your Bonaire dive vacation, so participation is both fun and educational.
What to bring:
Students will need to bring their own cameras/housings/lights/tapes. If you are thinking about picking out gear, drop us a line and we can help you select what is right for you. If you would like to focus on editing, bring your laptop and software - we will also have a laptop available to share. Everyone needs to be a certified, competent diver, with at least 50 dives completed. Upon signing up, a complete gear list will be provided as well as a course outline.
